Hoof Trimming

RB Hoofcare use wide rollover crushes. These crushes are ideal for both the smallest of cows to the largest of bulls and are able to cope with herds of any size large or small, set up is quick and easy for both the handler and cattle.

Through using the Dutch method of foot trimming I am able to balance the weight bearing surface of the animal's hoof, to drastically improve the animals overall health through alleviating pain, improving posture as well as mobility.

With every job you will receive:

  • A detailed report sheet listing the services provided

  • A lameness report detailing the degree of lameness for the herd

  • A wellbeing report highlighting any ailments and advice for the farmer, nutritionists and veterinary team to help not only improve the health but also increase the yield of your livestock.

With this information, we can aim to help increase both the health and the yield of your livestock after every job.

Note: All recommendations given by RB Hoofcare should be noted in conjunction with advice from your veterinary practitioner

RB Hoofcare use the Dutch 5 Step Method:

Functional Trimming

1)      Trim toe length to correct length

2)      Match untrimmed claw length/level

3)      Model (dish) out sole ulcer site

Corrective (Therapeutic) Trimming

4)      Relieve weight off painful claw

5)      Remove loose/under-run horn and hard ridges in high risk zones

Trimming your cattle’s feet can prevent, cure and alleviate any foot issues, reducing the possibility of lameness and improving your animal’s welfare.
